The Role 

 

Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Communications Officer, the Senior Strategy Manager will play a key role in supporting the creation, roll out and reporting of the firm’s global strategy. In addition, the role holder will support on researching and writing briefs, reports and presentations for the senior leadership of the firm, working closely with the Chief Strategy & Communications Officer.

 
This is an exciting time to join Eversheds Sutherland. The firm’s Chief Executive-Elect will take on his new role in May 2025 and will lead the creation and implementation of a new global strategy, supported by the Executive and the Chief Strategy and Communications Officer. 


This is a newly created role and you will work closely with others across the International firm including the Executive, Finance, HR, IT, Marketing and Knowledge. Liaison and alignment with colleagues in the US will also be critical. 


You will need to be able to take briefs from different teams and understand/interpret the end goals in order to deliver clear advice and business information to support decision making at the most senior levels. You will often be working on confidential and sensitive information and will need to be able to work in a way that is appropriate to the situation, involving the key decision makers and maintaining a high level of prudence internally and externally.


Key responsibilities

 

•    Strategic planning, working with the Senior Leadership Team to look at our strategy for the International Business over the short, medium and longer term
•    Execution, helping to take the strategy plans above and implement these
•    Reporting – on agreed targets and KPIs 
•    Research and analysis including:

         - Reviewing and analysing potential growth opportunities

         - Competitive positioning and horizon scanning – preparing related briefing documents and presentations 

         - Financial Analysis – Using tools like Pirical, to compare the financial and business performance of peer firms 

•    Creation of business cases, positioning papers and plans for strategic initiatives 
•    Stakeholder management across multi-functional teams on an international basis, both within the legal practice sectors as well as our International Operations/Business Support Functions

•    A proven track record of successful strategy development gained in a similar role in the professional services or legal industry or management consulting 
•    Excellent team player, as well as being able to lead and inspire, contributing your knowledge and experience to develop others around you

•    A strategic thinker, with first-class numerical skills and attention to detail 
•    Highly motivated, results driven with strong leadership and project management skills 
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders and colleagues at all levels 
•    Experience of working with colleagues across a large, complex international organisation and cultural sensitivity 
•    Responds positively to change and new challenges and open to helping to deliver transformative change through a culture of innovation and creativity
•    An operational delivery focus and highly motivated to deliver excellent results
•    Comfortable with working in a fast paced environment
•    Ability to organise own workload, coordinate projects, set priorities and manage competing priorities, follow up on tasks, often to tight deadlines, and keeping line managers updated as necessary
•    Gathers and accepts feedback in order to develop within their role
