The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Practice Group Support Manager to support our Commercial Advisory. You will manage a team of PAs and play a pivotal role in ensuring stakeholders receive a professional, efficient and proactive administrative service. You will lead with strategic vision, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement. Your role involves engaging and building trust with stakeholders at all levels, driving effective communication and relationship management and aligning with the wider business strategy.


Role and key responsibilities

As a PGSM, you will play a pivotal role in people leadership, operational delivery and stakeholder engagement. You will be responsible for:

 

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary contact for stakeholder communications relating to Practice Group Support performance and feedback.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships; identify issues early and provide strategic, solutions‑focused guidance.
  • Participate in Team and Partner meetings, sharing updates on key priorities and promoting Practice Group Support and Client Service Excellence.

 

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, motivate and mentor a team of PAs, fostering high performance, accountability and ongoing development.
  • Hold regular check‑ins, establishing clear goals, providing regular constructive feedback and development areas.
  • Proactively manage underperformance, collaborating with Employee Relations as required.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high‑quality talent.
  • Support Practice Group Support’s Talent mapping and Salary and Bonus review.
  • Oversee hybrid working practices and ensure consistent office coverage.

 

Operational Management

  • Manage workload allocation and resource planning across local and national teams.
  • Apply sound financial management principles, utilising data to inform decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and continuously enhance processes to drive efficiency.
  • Chair team meetings, ensuring clear communication of objectives, actions and firmwide initiatives.

 

Technology & Innovation

  • Champion the use of firm technologies and self‑service solutions to drive digital transformation.
  • Conduct quality checks and provide feedback to strengthen service delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows through technology‑enabled improvements.

 

Strategic Projects & Firmwide Collaboration

  • Lead and contribute to projects aligned with firm strategy, overseeing timelines, risks, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with PGSMs and Team Leaders to ensure alignment across offices.
  • Champion change initiatives, acting as a positive role model and advocate for progress.

 

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, covering recruitment, performance development, effective delegation, and maintaining a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to adapt approach to influence, engage, and manage a wide range of stakeholder relationships, including navigating complex or challenging conversations.
  • Strong strategic capability with experience in project planning, prioritisation and delivery, supporting continuous improvement and contributing to Firm-wide objectives.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality client service while upholding professionalism, confidentiality, and alignment with the Firm’s values and purpose.
  • Technical proficiency and a proactive approach to adopting new and emerging technologies, supporting digital transformation and encouraging effective use of innovative tools across the team.
