Our team
Our finance team provides world class financial services to our business. We are looking for Finance Manager to join our team. This is a key role within the Finance Team and has responsibility for handling queries for the business efficiently and in line with set service levels.
Role and key responsibilities
Working as part of a fast paced and dynamic team, your remit will be as follows:
- Business partnership with the partners and lawyers at Eversheds Sutherland based in Dublin to drive commercial improvements in financial performance, including but not limited to effective billing rates, client profitability and leverage
- Driving adherence to Financial Protocols and performance across key financial hygiene metrics including monthly billing & cash & 6-month debt collection targets, aged WIP & debt management, lock up and matter management for all PGs within your country – in collaboration with each UK Senior Commercial Finance Manager (SCFM) (PG driven)
- Accountability for the annual Budget, periodic forecast processes and internal results announcements in direct support to the OLH in collaboration with each UK Senior Commercial Finance Manager (SCFM) (PG driven)
- Business case preparation and review in context of new external lateral Partner hires
- Ensure production of timely financial accounting information for local Senior Office Partner (SOP) and local statutory reporting, including UK requirements in consultation with Group Financial Control
- Accountable for all aspects of financial control locally, including management of the financial control function and delivery of initiatives in consultation with Group Financial Control to strengthen the control environment and ensure compliance with local requirements and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements and responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations
- Working with external advisors/auditors and the Group Financial Control team to ensure compliance with all aspects of regulatory reporting and responsible for production of all Ireland financial statements and filing (where applicable)
- Supporting with resolution of dormant balances
- Analysis and optimisation of financial procedures for enhanced efficiency and alignment to firm wide processes to drive quality service delivery to your office
- Working with external advisors and the Group Tax team to ensure compliance with all aspects of regulatory reporting and tax requirements including Partnership tax filings, VAT returns filings and tax compliance & accounting
- Collaboration with peers across the critical support function including HR, BD, Strategy, Pricing and Knowledge to deliver consistent messaging and solutions to complex problems
- Cash flow & treasury management and acting as key point of contact with local banks
- In addition to your operational tasks, you will be responsible for the management, training and development of the local finance team ensuring that the department's services are tailored to the role.
This role will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager based in Paris.
Skills and experience
We are looking for:
- Experience in a Global Law Firm desirable
- Experience and knowledge of Concur, SAP and Power BI (Reporting) systems desirable
- Experience of handling queries and incidents effectively and in line with procedures
- Able to own key daily, weekly and monthly tasks and ensure they are completed on time
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Experience managing a small team
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
