Role and key responsibilities

This is a Commercial Accounting Analyst role to support the Senior Finance Manager for the Litigation practice group (L&DM). 

 

The main purpose of this appointment is to support the L&DM Finance team and Partnership in analysing and reviewing performance across the group, ensuring robust financial controls are adhered to in producing the results, and providing ‘real time’ support to the Partners and leadership team. To become a key part of the L&DM and wider Commercial Finance team, and help positively influence the growth and profitability of the practice group.

 

A keen eye for detail, accuracy and the ability to work at a fast pace to meet tight deadlines is essential. 

  • Analytical support for the Senior Commercial Finance Manager and Business Stakeholders
  • Taking ownership of data quality to inform the reporting and analysis for the practice group
  • The month end processes; journals, reporting, P&L reviews & variance analysis
  • Delivering analysis that supports meeting key strategic requirements
  • Writing commentary to include in business performance reports 
  • Supporting on budgeting, planning and forecasting
  • Work in tandem with the rest of the Commercial team to ensure quality control and best practice is developed including streamlining processes and analysis
  • The ability to work accurately and at a fast pace is imperative, to ensure confidence in the information provided and to meet tight deadlines

 

Skills and experience 

We are looking for: 

  • The ideal candidate will be an early stage studier (CIMA/ACCA), or hold a finance-based degree
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel knowledge including pivot tables, lookups and problem-solving formulas is essential
  • Experience in managing large amounts of data and ensuring its accuracy
  • Knowledge of cube-based reporting systems would be beneficial. The firm uses XLCubed
  • Previous use of Power BI would be advantageous although not necessary
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders at all levels
  • Familiarity with building and delivering PowerPoint presentations
  • Experience of presenting information to senior stakeholders in a concise and easy to understand manner
  • Good team player with the desire to support within the wider finance team.
  • Ability to manage multiple ad-hoc requests for information within tight timescales.
