Eversheds Sutherlands’ Employment Law team is one of the largest in the world with more than 220 qualified lawyers globally. With more than 100 UK Employment lawyers and more recognised experts in the UK than any other firm, we have the expertise and resources to deal with matters of any size and complexity. This role can be based in any of our regional offices (excluding London) but you will work with teams across the UK and further afield on a daily basis. Our Employment team is one of our largest UK teams and we work with fantastic clients across the full range of disciplines. Our team has an outstanding reputation for delivering quality advice, in the format our clients want, on time and on budget. We also work closely with various government departments and agencies and employers' groups to ensure, as new law is drafted, that it is fit for purpose and reflects the commercial needs of our clients.

 

The PSL team is at the forefront of our client-facing knowledge, such as client alerts; publications and legal updates. The team provides technical and strategic advice to client teams, works on client knowledge solutions, develops and delivers learning and development opportunities for all levels of qualification, provides updates on developments in law and practice as well as other knowledge management activities. 

 

The Role

 

Our Employment PSLs directly support the UK employment team, and offers strategic assistance to other offices in the global network.

 

Key responsibilities will encompass but are not restricted to the following:

 

  • A financial services sector focus, with particular emphasis on governance and transparency
  • Working closely with our marketing team to be at the forefront of demonstrating our capability with clients and client prospects
  • A significant focus on developing our fee earning talent, driving technical excellence and developing deep sector expertise for lawyers across all levels of qualification
  • Working with lawyers to develop advice that is commercially focused and technically excellent
  • Monitoring key developments in law and practice and keeping clients, client prospects and lawyers up to date with need-to-know updates
  • Contributing to key client relationships through horizon scanning and knowledge management
  • Liaising with industry bodies
  • Profile-raising activities such as article writing, contributing to external networks and committees, organising events and developing thought leadership materials
  • Advising on the provision of innovative solutions to our clients’ issues and the ongoing relationships with our clients, using available technology where appropriate

 

Skills


Our preferred candidate will:

 

  • Have at least 8 years’ post qualification experience in employment and ieally to include a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a PSL.
  • Be a team player and a self-starter with a wide commercial perspective and a strong desire to be creative, do things differently and better with the support of the UK employment team.
  • Have a strong interest in the black letter law, excellent technical skills and an eye for detail and innovation.
  • Have an interest in AI and legal technology, to help increase the uptake and use by our fee earners, working in conjunction with the Legal Technology team
