Our team
The Brussels office is part of Eversheds Sutherland’s wider Benelux offering, which also includes our teams in Luxembourg and the Netherlands. As a fast-growing and ambitious practice, the Benelux team advises clients on both domestic and international matters, working closely with colleagues across the global Eversheds Sutherland network.
Our lawyers in the Benelux are active in a range of key practice areas, including Employment, Labour & Pensions, M&A, Banking & Finance, Tax, Corporate Notarial Services, Litigation, Real Estate & Planning, and Data, Privacy & Technology. Together, we serve clients across sectors such as energy, financial services, life sciences, and technology.
Due to our continued growth, we are recruiting an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Employment, Labour and Pensions team in Brussels. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with two of our Partners, Stefan Corbanie and Céline Wauters.
Stefan leads the team and specialises in both individual and collective employment law. He has extensive experience advising international clients on complex, cross-border employment issues, with a particular focus on employee consultation and collective bargaining in the context of restructurings and change management. Céline specialises in complex employment matters, including restructurings, company closures, working time arrangements, contract terminations, and international employment. She also has extensive experience with litigation, audits, and collective bargaining, and regularly delivers training on employment law topics.
Role and key responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with Stefan and Céline, along with four other lawyers in the team.
You’ll be working on a wide range of matters, primarily for major international clients across jurisdictions including the Netherlands, France, Germany, and the UK. The role involves a mix of day-to-day advisory work—such as employment contracts, company policies, and handbooks—as well as larger, strategic projects, including cross-border restructurings, redundancies, and collective labour matters. There is also some litigation and volume work, but the focus is on complex, high-impact work. You’ll have the opportunity to work across both Stefan and Céline’s client portfolios, ensuring exposure to varied work and clients, and a strong sense of being part of a collaborative, high-performing team.
Skills and experience
We are looking for:
• An experienced lawyer with 2 to 7 years of specialised practice in employment law.
• A proactive and entrepreneurial team player who takes initiative to develop and expand client opportunities.
• Fluent in English and at least one other language, ideally both French and Dutch.
• Commercial and pragmatic mindset, focused on finding practical solutions that meet client needs.
• Ideally, experience working in an international law firm environment.
