Our team
The Brussels office is part of Eversheds Sutherland’s wider Benelux offering, which also includes our teams in Luxembourg and the Netherlands. As a fast-growing and ambitious practice, the Benelux team advises clients on both domestic and international matters, working closely with colleagues across the global Eversheds Sutherland network.
Our lawyers in the Benelux are active in a range of key practice areas, including M&A, Financial Services, Banking & Finance, Tax, Corporate Notarial Services, Litigation, Real Estate & Planning, Employment & Pensions and Data, Privacy & Technology. Together, we serve clients across sectors such as industrials, TMT, energy, financial institutions, and life sciences.
Due to our continued growth, we are recruiting an Associate (2–3 years of experience) to join our Corporate team in Brussels.
This is a great opportunity to support two of our Partners – Benjamin Haberkorn, the new Head of Corporate in Belgium, and Kristof Slootmans, who also recently joined the team. Benjamin brings over 20 years of experience advising on cross-border M&A, private equity, and corporate restructurings. Kristof focuses on private and public M&A, joint ventures, and reorganisations, and is known for his pragmatic, deal-driven approach.
Role and key responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with Benjamin and Kristof, as well as two Associates within the team. Under the new leadership of Benjamin, the team has undergone significant transformation and is focused on delivering high-quality transactional work for a strong roster of top level and international clients.
As an Associate (2–3 years of experience), you will:
-Work closely with both partners and support two more senior Associates in the team on a variety of corporate transactional matters.
-Assist on M&A deals, group restructurings, and reorganisations.
-Be involved in multi-jurisdictional transactions with exposure to high-profile, international clients.
-Gain hands-on experience and gradually take on more responsibility as you develop within the team.
-The role offers strong mentorship and learning opportunities in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You will also work regularly with colleagues across the firm’s international network.
Skills and experience
We are looking for:
-2–3 years of relevant experience in corporate law or M&A, ideally at a reputable law firm.
-Fluent in English, with native or strong working proficiency in either French or Dutch.
-Strong legal drafting and analytical skills.
-A proactive, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn from more senior team members.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and team spirit.
-Interest in working on international mandates and developing within a high-performing team.
What’s in it for you?
At Eversheds Sutherland, we provide benefits focused on looking after you: your development, your performance, your financial future and your health, as well as providing the opportunity to make a contribution to the world.
-Excellent progression opportunities due to our dynamic growth in a vibrant team.
-Working for exciting and varied international clients from the outset.
-Regular training and further development in our international offices.
-Opportunities to work with colleagues across the world, with the possibility of undertaking a secondment to one of our international offices.
-Last but not least: a culture that promotes cooperation, diversity and training!

This is reflected in our policies, systems and processes, and in our work with diversity membership organisations.
Many of our people work flexibly in some way and we are open to considering how we can accommodate flexible working arrangements alongside role requirements. If this is important to you, please talk to us about it during the recruitment process.
