Our team

 

Our Construction and Engineering team advises across construction, energy, infrastructure and procurement in both contentious and non-contentious matters. We advise on projects from start to finish, engaging with our clients from project origination through to the end.

 

As a Construction Associate, you will play a pivotal role in the firm’s Projects & Construction practice, working on a wide range of complex transactions across a variety of areas including commercial development, residential, infrastructure, transport and energy. You will also work closely with many other departments in the firm on construction elements of deals particularly with Real Estate onforward sale and forward funding development, Banking on financing and refinancing of projects and Corporate on and M&A transactions.

Role and key responsibilities

 

We are seeking an ambitious and hardworking associate to join our Construction and Engineering team in our Dublin Office.

 

The role will include:

  • Advising clients on a range of construction legal issues such as project procurement, management of the project, mid-stream issues such as EOT and other types of claims, negotiation of construction contracts and also agreements relating to financing the project, developing the project and advising on construction elements of M&A transactions.
  • Drafting and negotiation of the key contracts and agreements for various types of projects.
  • Opportunity to work on construction projects across Ireland (north and south) and internationally.
  • Chance to work on some of Ireland's largest and most complex construction projects and to work with large Irish and Global Clients, from Developers to Contractors to Funders.

 

Skills and experience

 

We are looking for:

  • 0-3 years post qualification experience (PQE) within a respected law firm or in-house legal team, focusing on construction, infrastructure, and / or major projects.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts (in particular RIAI, NEC and standard design appointments) and ancillary documents with a good understanding of market requirements.
  • Experience advising clients through-out the life cycle of a construction project.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A client-centric approach, with proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • An interest in assisting on the mentoring and development of junior lawyers on the team.
  • Autonomy and ability to lead on matters and an ability to work and develop as a strong team member.
  • Strong communication skills, good project management and attention to detail.
