We are now looking for a Trainee Lawyer (Advocaat-stagiair) to join our Employment, Labour & Pensions team in the Netherlands, and be based out of our Amsterdam office.
About the team
Our Dutch Employment, Labour & Pensions practice is a standalone, full-service employment team operating across Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The team is made up of partners, senior lawyers, associates and trainees, in total 11 employment lawyers and 2 pensions specialists, and is part of a wider international employment practice.
We advise leading national and international employers on the full spectrum of employment law issues, which is unique in the Netherlands. Our work includes:
- Employment contracts and terms and conditions of employment, including policies
- Performance management and termination processes, including senior executives
- Long term sickness and other types of leave of absence
- Reorganizations and collective dismissals, including works council and trade union consultation
- Works council information and consultation rights in general
- Litigation
- Employment aspects of corporate M&A transactions
- Pensions-related employment matters
We act exclusively for employers, supporting clients with both day-to-day advisory work and complex, strategic matters across multiple jurisdictions, including litigation.
The role
As a Trainee Lawyer, you will join a busy and high-performing employment team and work closely with partners and senior lawyers from day one.
You will gain early exposure to client work and be involved in a wide range of employment law matters, including both advisory work and legal proceedings. The role offers strong development opportunities.
You will undertake the Dutch Bar professional education as well as the Law Firm School as part of your traineeship.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a motivated and committed Trainee Lawyer with a genuine interest in employment law. You will ideally have:
- A completed Dutch law degree (required)
- A Master’s in Employment Law (preferred but not essential)
- A clear interest in employment law, demonstrated through study, internships or other experience
- Strong academic ability combined with a practical mindset
- Ambition to work in a high performing working environment
- A team player mindset
- Fluency in Dutch and English
